3 Types of Speaking in Tongues

1. Praying in tongues - man to God, private edification,
prayer, praises and messages in tongues:

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto
men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in
the spirit he speaketh mysteries" (1 Corinthians 14:2 KJV).

2. Prophesy in tongues - with interpretation in English or
whatever language of the listening people:

"I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye
prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he speaketh
with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive
edifying" (1 Corinthians 14:5 KJV).

3. Speaking in tongues in foreign languages - can be
a sign to unbelievers:

"And how hear we every man in our own tongue (language or dialect),
wherein we were born" (Acts 2:8 KJV)?

"...we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works
of God" (Acts 2:11b KJV).

Why Does God Want You to Pray in Tongues?

1. You are speaking directly to God:

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto
men, but unto God" (1 Corinthians 14:2a KJV).

2. You are praying for yourself the perfect prayer of
intercession to remove any personal infirmities (malady, feebleness
(of body or mind), disease, infirmity, sickness or weakness):

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself
maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the
Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according
to the will of God" (Romans 8:26,27 KJV).

3. You can by faith, pray in tongues, interceeding for others:

This means you can ask God the Father in Jesus' name to have the
Holy Spirit pray through you an intercessory prayer for someone
else as you pray in tongues.

4. You can pray in the spirit much as your mind rests:

"Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

5. You can be praying for things, people and important
things your mind does not know about:

6. Praying in tongues edifys, build you up spiritually:

"He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself"
(1 Corinthians 14:4a KJV).

"But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God,
looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal
life" (Jude 20,21 KJV).

7. Praying in tongues strengthens you in your inner man
and gives you power to minister:

"That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory,
to be strengthened with might (dunamis power) by his Spirit
in the inner man"(Ephesians 3:16 KJV).

Smith Wigglesworth, who it was recorded to have raised at
least twenty-five people from the dead, said the key to his
power was praying in tongues two hours a day. Want power?
Pray in tongues much each day. Want to accelerate your
spiritual growth and draw closer to God? Pray in tongues
much each day. How much time should you spend praying in
tongues each day? At least an hour. Ask your Heavenly
Father in Jesus' name to give you the grace to overcome
the flesh to pray in tongues much daily.

Want Mountain Moving Faith?

The Lord gave the following words to a Christian to speak out loud. The Lord encouraged the Christian to declare these words often until they became a reality in his heart. And of course the more time you spend declaring these powerful words, the quicker the results.

"There is no lack of faith with me. If I were to come to the end of my faith, then the Father gives me the very faith of Christ and it is impossible for me not to believe."
